Operating Steps
- Prepare the Bait: Use small floating minnows, spinners, or flies and attach them to the hook.
- Choose the Fishing Spot: Fish in shallow areas near the shore, preferably in spots with dense aquatic plants, such as water grass or reeds.
- Cast and Retrieve: Cast the rod with the appropriate force and direction to land near the shallow area. Gently wiggle the rod and check every 3-5 seconds by lifting the rod, then recast. Since small whitebait hook quickly, this retrieve method is efficient.
What Tools to Use for Lure Fishing Small Whitebait
Lure fishing requires a lure rod. Since small whitebait are small, a soft and short rod is ideal. The rod should be 1.8 to 1.9 meters in length, with a UL action. Due to the light weight of the small whitebait and the mild hook-setting force, the fishing line does not need to be thick. Use nylon line, with the main line between 0.6 to 0.8 and the leader line between 0.2 to 0.4. The mouth of small whitebait is small, so a specialized hook for small fish, such as a fine wire hook, works best. The hook size does not need to be large, and should range from size 1 to 3, depending on the specific size of the fish.
