Will Sparrows Raised from a Young Age Fly Away?

Will Sparrows Raised from a Young Age Fly Away?

If the breeding method is correct, and a bond is formed between the owner and the sparrow raised from a young age, leading the sparrow to recognize its owner, it generally will not fly away. If a sparrow that has recognized its owner flies away, it might be because it got lost and couldn’t find its way back home. However, if the breeding method is incorrect, and the sparrow is not familiar with the owner, not trusting the owner, it may fly away on its own.

1. Will Sparrows Raised from a Young Age Fly Away?

If the breeding method is correct, and the sparrow successfully recognizes its owner, and if some flying training has been done afterward, sparrows raised from a young age generally will not fly away on their own. This is because they have already recognized the owner, become dependent on them, and enjoy staying with them. If they fly away and do not return, it is likely because they got lost. However, if the owner did not hand-feed the sparrow, did not interact with it, and did not carry out flying training, the sparrow may not be familiar with the owner and may fly away on its own.

2. How to Familiarize Sparrows with Their Owner

  1. Hand-Feed: Sparrows are relatively smart birds. If the owner can hand-feed them during the raising process, the sparrows will become more attached to the owner. By consistently feeding them every day, after about a month, they will become highly dependent on their owner.
  2. Frequent Interaction: In addition to feeding, the owner should interact with the sparrow regularly. They can approach the sparrow often, talk to it, play with it, and spend more time with it. Sometimes, simply spending time together can help the sparrow become more familiar with the owner.

3. How to Do Flying Training for Sparrows

After raising the sparrow for a period of time and it has become familiar with its owner, flying training can be attempted. When doing flying training, find a relatively spacious room. The room should be quiet to prevent the sparrow from becoming scared. First, let the sparrow go without food for 2-3 hours, then open the birdcage and let it fly for about five minutes. Use food to entice it back into the cage. By continuing this training for a period of time, the sparrow will learn to return to its cage.
